The role of the Field Engineer is to assist Project Managers with the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of assigned projects. The Field Engineer will be based out of the company headquarters in Benicia, but the role requires spending more than 80% of the work week in the field at project sites throughout Central and Northern California.
The Field Engineer is essentially a field-based project manager, and will typically have 2 years of relevant project experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or a comparable degree.
The Field Engineer should be proficient in the following tasks and responsibilities:
•Track purchase requests and purchase orders
•Monitor the status of One Call dates; verify project completion dates and compare to One Call status. Notify Project Manager of any discrepancies.
•Develop job setup packages and project folders
•Assist with coordination of site preparation services
•Monitor equipment rentals and track supplier and subcontractor vendor invoices to ensure validity
•Obtain project permits
•Monitor the timeliness of unit sheet receipt and approval. Review units for accuracy and completeness, and notify Project Manager of issues.
•Assisting Project Manager in weekly scheduling process as well as monitoring active job list for required project completion dates
•Obtain and reconcile daily manpower reports.
•Assisting in the development of close-out checklists.
•Prepare/process project close-out documentation.
•Create, share and store timely and accurate project documentation
•Provide the Project Manager with insight to project risks and mitigation strategies. Must be able to problem solve.
•Ensure timely, accurate and consistent communication between field teams and office-based staff.
•On site customer point of contact. Provide customer-facing support for the field crews.
•Redline project drawings as necessary
•Provide quality control of project documentation
•Prepare reports for clients
•Quality control schedule and cost data as requested
•Assist the crews with daily/weekly work planning (preparation of weekly binders, performing site walks, etc)
•Ensure that crews have accurate safety and quality documentation on site
•Ensure that closeout punch list items are completed in a timely fashion
All Project Coordinator and Field Engineer work will be performed in accordance with the companies Project Management Plan. At a minimum:
•Project Coordinators should assist the Project Managers with daily work report QC, weekly schedule updates, weekly project team meeting preparation, change order preparation, and project submittals.
•Field Engineers will be held responsible for ensuring that all construction activities are performed in line with Owner/Client standards, and that those activities are tracked and reported accurately and in a timely fashion.
