Position Overview

The Utility Inspector shall have documented and verifiable work history regarding pipeline inspection, excavation and backfill activities. The Utility Inspector shall monitor all excavation, shoring and backfilling activities for compliance with the applicable standards and construction drawings.

Essential Job Functions

Utility Inspector responsibilities shall include:

•Ensure equipment and personnel stay on the right-of-way

•Ensure receipt of approved-for-construction drawings depicting right-of-way, all permits and documents describing environmental commitments, requirements, rules and regulations regarding fish and wildlife, and demonstrates knowledge of any other special provisions or restrictions

•Cooperate and work closely with right-of-way inspectors and construction contractor representatives

•Ensure all activities performed in safe and professional manner

•Document all inspection activities on a daily basis

•Prepare appropriate reports for the assigned activity and submits reports to Chief Inspector at designated time

•Inform Chief Inspector immediately of any safety or construction deviations or any problems and/or anticipated problems

•Comply with safety standards as outlined in the company’s Health and Safety Handbook and those prescribed by the job site


•Applicable work experience in utility inspection

•Current Operator Qualification (OQ) status as required by the project

•Must be authorized to work in U.S.

•API - 1169

Other Skills/Abilities

•Must be able to clearly communicate to other team members and client personnel

•Must be able to write clearly and concisely to prepare reports and correspondence

•Skilled with MS Office suite

•Strong attention to details

•Ability to work in a team environment
