CWI & NACE COMBO INSPECTOR
• CWI certification
• API 570, 510, or 653 certifications
• NACE certification or metallurgy experience
ESSENTIAL DUTIES : Adherence to design basis and quality requirements for all assigned tanks, piping, mechanical, and other installation work. Below is a list of essential duties of this position. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
• Provides technical assistance to the subcontractors and keeps them informed on matters relating to quality and quality control
• Performs coordination and communications with Engineering to resolve technical problems
• Initiates, coordinates, and oversees the implementation of design changes
• General coordination with multiple groups across jobsite (terminal manager, design, QC, subcontractors, etc.)
• Support the Piping Supervisor and Superintendent in resolving issues related to applicable piping installations and activities
• Coordinate, schedule and oversight of construction activities on projects from start to finish.
• Develop a detailed scope of work and schedule for budgetary estimates and/or RFQs
• Acts as a liaison to Project Management team and 3rd party sub-contractors reporting on field safety, project progress, or delays.
• Directly supervise tank inspections in the field.
• Ensure field quality assurance and testing.
• Initiating, reviewing, implementing, and/or dispositioning change requests such as Field Change Notices, Field Change Requests, Nonconformance Reports, Conditioned Reports, and other technical documentation.
• Coordinates field oversight of the installation of equipment and components in assigned field.
• Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a specific discipline.
• Champion the commitment to safety, security, environmental, and quality priorities and values throughout the Project by communicating, fostering, supporting, and enforcing HSE policies, procedures, guidelines, requirements, and objectives
• Review/interpret design drawings for constructability
• Provide oversight, interpretation, auditing and approval of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) performed by others.
• Periodically audit and evaluate examiners used for External Visual or Ultrasonic Thickness (UT) examinations.
• Visually inspect all visible weld surfaces and evaluate for code compliance
• Provide clarifications of drawings, specifications, and other technical documents as necessary to support Construction
• Coordinating inspection and testing activities
• Promotes the use of HSE Leading Indicators, Proactive Measures and Predictive Indicators.
• Provides construction input into the implementation of “Safety Through Design” process.
• Attend job-related meeting as required
• Report daily and weekly to Project Manager on installed quantities and status
• May provide technical review of bids and submissions as requested.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• 5 or more years of experience in Mechanical/Piping construction or other related fields * Is accustomed to management of project schedules.
• Willing to travel
• Willing to work overtime and/or extended work weeks when required
• Understanding and knowledge of building codes and industry best practices
• Experienced managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Highly organized, detail-driven, self -motivated and conscientious
• Is attuned to interdisciplinary issues
• Computer Skills:
• Capable of using basic Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
• Basic knowledge in MS Project is preferred * General working knowledge of specific systems, terminology and procedures used within the department.
• Knowledge in application and compliance requirements of regulatory codes (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and industry standards and recommended practices (API, ASME, etc.)
• Ability to solve problems and make basic decisions.
• Ability and wiliness to climb ladders and platforms up to 80 feet with a harness and lanyard
• Ability and wiliness to work outdoors in warm, hot and cold conditions
• The unrestricted right to work in the United States
• Must have or be able to qualify for a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
