Qualifications for Construction Inspector - Levee Work El Paso, TX
1. The minimum qualifications for the CI are:
a. The CI must have a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, or geological engineering from an ABET accredited program (www.abet.org) or the CI must be registered through a United States' board of engineering as a civil engineer, geotechnical engineer, geological engineer, or construction engineer.
b. The CI must have a minimum of four (4) years' experience in construction management, field inspection, or construction supervision of civil works projects (earthwork, roads, highways, deep foundations, utilities, infrastructure, paving, levees, etc.).
c. The CI must have a minimum of:
i. Two (2) years' experience in earthwork inspection. Please note that mass excavation does not meet earthwork construction/inspection experience requirements. Earthwork is the precise placement of engineered soils to meet detailed requirements.
ii. Two (2) years' experience in cast-in-place concrete construction inspection.
iii. Two (2) years' experience in concrete design.
iv. Performed a role involving direct supervision, inspection, testing or quality control for drilled pier construction.
v. Performed a role involving direct supervision, inspection, testing or quality control for cement-bentonite slurry walls.
vi. One (1) year experience with Federal Government Contract inspection. Past experience on an IBWC project does not imply acceptance of a person's qualifications.
d. The CI must possess knowledge and experience in ASTM, ACI, and other miscellaneous construction testing requirements, as well as knowledge in construction inspection procedures, and inspections methodologies, including the use of nuclear gauges, concrete sampling, and construction safety.
e. The CI is required to have advanced verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
(1) Ability to interact effectively with the construction Contractor management personnel and crew.
(2) Ability to work with others, including utilities, state, local, and federal agencies, the COR, and the FEM.
(3) Demonstrate independent and effective problem solving/decision making.
f. The CI must be fully competent in taking meeting minutes and shall be able to thoroughly document the key elements of a meeting with minimal corrections.
g. The CI must be fluent in both written and spoken English.
