DESCRIPTION
Position Overview

The qualified candidate must be proficient in a number of computer applications, but must specifically possess skills to integrate with database management. Must be familiar with spatial and attribute data. Needs to have experience with cartography and map design as well. Computer skills are critical. A strong background in GIS software is required. Must have 5 - 10 years relevant experience, Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) Certification preferred.

Essential Job Functions

Specific capability to operate ArcGIS desktop software for preparing of environmental maps, maintaining such maps, along with the ability to analyze data, and prepare map products while developing and maintaining GIS data sets.

ArcGIS experience including but not limited to:

Constructing points, lines and polygons using coordination geometry
Heads up digitizing over imagery
GIS project folder structure creation
Use and manipulation of geodatabases in ArcCatalog
Experience working with various coordinate systems and projections
Experience using GIS toolsets, specifically spatial analyst and 3D analyst
Experience working with both raster and vector data.
Experience working with CAD data in GIS
Experience using Google Earth data in GIS (.KMZs)
GPS Support Experience

Preferred experience in using and troubleshooting Trimble GPS technology (GeoXT)
Experience in post processing data using GPS Pathfinder Office
Data Acquisition and Use

Experience acquiring and using data from outside sources, such as:
CALATLAS (formerly CASIL)
USGS Map Viewer (formerly USGS Seamless)
ArcGIS Online Steaming Services
California Natural Diversity Database (CNDDB)
Municipal/County GIS Departments
National Wetland Inventory and National Hydrography Dataset
Non-essential Job Functions

AutoCAD 3D support
IT support

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or sciences from an accredited university or equivalent experience
ArcGIS suite – 5 to 10 years’ relevant work experience
Must be authorized to work in U.S.
Local candidates preferred no per Diem or relocation offered at this time.
Other Skills/Abilities

Must be able to clearly communicate to other team members and client personnel
Must be able to write clearly and concisely to prepare reports and correspondence
Skilled with MS Office suite
Strong attention to details
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to travel as dictated by project requirements
