The position requiring recruitment, assists the field, district and resource centers with engineering, construction, and operations installations.
Designing construction projects consisting of drawings, schematics and bill of materials information for the client's Natural Gas Business Unit.
This requires the incumbent to be advanced in mechanical piping design and using drawing platforms, drafting standards and records storage (such as AutoCAD and Vault) and will work hand in hand with DPS, Engineers, Project Managers, GIS & Records, Utility Field Operations, and Enterprise project personnel.
Nature and Scope:
He/she will work with DPS and engineers along with other personnel in reviewing projects to be drafted, receiving work through Vault and/or SharePoint sites and monitoring deadlines.
Providing feedback or questions and choice of materials for construction.
These projects will all be related to natural gas pipelines such as Mains, joint trench, government relocation, DOT permitting and could extend to other distribution assets or facilities.
Verification of items in the field, may be necessary and candidate should have the ability to navigate locations in the field.This position does not have any direct supervision responsibilities.
Either 3+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent),
Or 5+ years experience with Associates Degree in related field
Or 9+ years experience high school/diploma/GED and no degree.
Experience, Skills & Competencies:
Relevant utility, engineering, or construction departments utilizing technical drawing and records systems
Proficient in the use of technical drafting platforms such as AutoCAD
Proven understanding of piping systems operating fundamentals and design
Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite software with Visio or SharePoint experience a plus
Proven experience with federal & state regulatory codes and standards (DOT 191, 192 and 193)
Demonstrated experience working with industry regulators and department of transportation
Demonstrated natural gas facility design, construction or operation/maintenance experience
GIS or Geospatial knowledge or survey experience
Proven experience in organizing information with Databases and/or Windows Office products
Mapping and presentation experience
Office: Sedentary work exerting negligible amount of force frequently or constantly and/or up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, involves sitting most of the time at a computer, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time
Vision and hearing acuity for communication with others
Able to be flexible and work additional hours as needed
Ability to navigate locations in the field.
