Work performed for this opportunity will be remote upon return to work.
The Quality Auditor inspects products and materials created, delivered, or in preparation for shipment to ensure they meet all requirements and standards. This involves testing products for quality to confirm that all materials delivered meet or exceed established quality standards. The Quality Auditor reviews products as well as assesses the procedures of the production/receipt /shipping process. To do so, they are responsible for a variety of duties and are expected to adhere to a Scope of Process. The Quality Auditor may also be expected to plan and/or participate in quality control audits, process audits, and supplier audits. Audits may involve inspecting products’ appearance, to make sure they look as they should, or conducting tests to ensure that they act like they are supposed to. Quality Auditors are always searching for any errors or inconsistencies.
Develop Testing Parameters
The Quality Auditor may need to work with customers, engineering, and management to establish what “correct” looks like and parameters for what qualifies as “incorrect.” The Quality Auditor may also train employees on the standards and how to meet them, educating employees and fostering a sense of responsibility about delivering top-quality products.
After completing testing, the Quality Auditor writes an assessment to record the number of incidents and where problem areas were identified. The assessment also includes recommendations to improve processes to avoid further defects. The Quality Auditor may also be expected to present findings to management and customers.
The Quality Auditor must have an excellent attention to detail. They need to also be able to take in the “big picture” and analyze the full production process to identify problems. Other skills required include but are not limited to:
A high degree of problem solving capability
The ability to multi-task and prioritize duties
The ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative information
The ability to challenge preconceived notions and behaviors diplomatically
Specific Core skills also include:
Familiarity with Gas or Oil Pipe materials (Pipe, Valves, Fittings, etc.)
Excellent vision and ability to differentiate between colors
Experience writing detailed action plans
Math skills, including algebra and statistics
Experience with ISO Standards, AQL manuals, SPC charts, and procedure manuals.
Ability to work overtime and weekends, as needed.
Quality Auditing Experience
This work may require the following Tools of the trade:
Calipers, micrometers, height gages and various other types of gages.
Computer programs, in particular Word and Excel
