Job Title         Maintenance Mechanic

Job Type:       Direct Hire - Combined Cycle Plant

Reports to:     O&M Supervisor

      

JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the ongoing maintenance requirements of the facility, including execution of the facility's planned maintenance program, performance of unplanned and emergency maintenance activities, and support of normal plant operations as required.

The Maintenance Mechanic reports to and supports the O&M Manager and works in harmony with the plant management team. The Maintenance Mechanic provides advice on matters pertaining to O&M activities, plant improvement projects, contract obligations, plant owner requests, and third-party activities. Ensures professional communications with, and extends support to, Regulatory personnel, Owner representatives, vendors and visitors, and other stakeholders.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform day-to-day mechanical maintenance activities to maintain the facility equipment in a safe operating condition. Activities include disassembly and reassembly of equipment including the inspection of internal parts for wear, checking tolerances, and replacing parts as required.

Perform basic welding, machining, and pipefitting services.
Perform preventive and minor maintenance on all plant equipment as required by the O&M Manager and in accordance with plant policy.
Understand and comply with the plant lockout/tagout system, electrical safety, and other plant safety, regulatory, and operational procedures.
Maintain records in a professional manner. Input data into the plant Computerized Maintenance Management System for corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance and compliance records.

Supervise vendors conducting work on the plant site and report status of activities to the O&M Manager.

Support material management procurement, such as quotations, requests for proposals, service contracts, bid comparisons, purchase requisitions, and blanket purchase orders.
Assist in the planning, scheduling, and conducting of preventive, corrective, and overhaul maintenance of all power plant equipment.

Keep tools, shop machines, and equipment in good working order. Perform housekeeping activities in the plant on a routine basis to ensure cleanliness, including building areas.

Maintain a valid Driver’s License and obtain certification on plant mobile equipment. Safely operate vehicles and diligently observe safe work practices when operating vehicles and mobile equipment.

Perform other duties as assigned by the O&M Manager.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate should be able to read and understand corporate programs, policies, procedures and instructions specific to the O&M Agreement. Qualifications must include the following:

High school graduate. Mechanical, instrumentation and electrical equipment knowledge is required.

Demonstrates extensive knowledge of power plant operations and equipment. Adept at troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with mechanical equipment with the ability to apply a resolution in a timely fashion.

Proficient at repairing, replacing, dismantling and inspecting defective plant equipment and parts such as pumps, valves, fans, gearboxes, demineralizers, compressors, and turbine components.

Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, technical manuals and P&ID's.

Thorough knowledge of the location, purpose, and proper use of the plant safety equipment, and of equipment isolation and tagging procedures.

Capable of operating welding and cutting equipment and completes metal fabrication projects.

Experience using basic hand tools and various shop/welding apparatus.

Experience performing in-depth plant mechanical maintenance.

Excellent communication, leadership, teamwork, and presentation skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Willing and available for emergency call-in work outside of normal working hours as conditions dictate.
