Test Electrician

Pay: $17.34-$27.31/Hour
Per-Diem: $120.00/Day
Location: Newport News, VA
Job Duration: 2-Years

Job Description:
Test Electricians inspect and diagnose electrical systems, equipment, or parts to spot hazards, defects, or the necessity for adjustment or repair, and to confirm compliance with codes on marine vessels.

Experience:
The Test Electrician must have a minimum of five (5) or more years of experience in the electrical field - Industrial, Marine or Commercial Nuclear applications.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
Must be able to accurately read and make measurements with tools including tape measures and stick rulers
Must be able to read and interpret shipboard electrical installation drawings, wiring tables, blueprints, schematics, and work packages.
Must have a basic understanding of electrical theory. (i.e. DC, AC, Motors)
Have a working knowledge of electrical components in a system and schematic symbols
Be familiar with LVR (low voltage release) and LVP (low voltage protection)
Able to verify circuit continuity using applicable drawings, meters, and test equipment (e.g wire check phones)
An intermediate/advanced understanding of a ship’s power distribution system
Test and inspect low, medium, and high-voltage cable installations.
Ability to troubleshoot electrical performance deficiencies (e.g. ground fault, motor circuits, power circuits)
Proficient in the use of basic electrician hand tools (i.e. Pliers, wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, connector crimping tools, etc.)

**Must be a US Citizen.
**Prior to employment, all new hire candidates must pass a background check and hair follicle drug test.
