Title:                 Senior Chemical Engineer 
Position Type:  Contract to Hire
Location:          Kirkland, WA
Reports to:       Engineering Manager
Status:             Exempt

Job Summary:  
PIC Group has an opening for a Senior Chemical Engineer to work for one of the world’s most respected design, engineering, and project management consultancies. The Senior Chemical Engineer is responsible for engineering design services in the energy and industrial processing sectors. You will be an integral part of a team of multi-discipline engineers and designers working on upgrades to existing facilities, new projects, FEEDS, and other studies.  The Senior Chemical Engineer may also support proposals and business development activities. This position has the flexibility to work in the regional office, in a hybrid capacity, or remote.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Key requirement is expertise and experience with Ammonia and/or Hydrogen projects.
•    Take a role as a Lead Chemical Engineer, and/or Subject Matter Expert.
•    Work with a multi-discipline team, collaborators, and Clients.
•    Proactive in obtaining needed information and support to complete work on time.
•    Flexible in balancing workload and priorities across multiple projects with a commitment to safety.
•    Maintain and build strong professional relationships with colleagues and clients.
•    Ability to perform clear calculations with schematics, references, and assumptions.
•    Strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, supportive team player and good verbal communication.
•    Travel to project sites, client offices, or manufacturing plants to support projects may be required.

Job Requirements:
•    Ability to create flow diagrams and P&IDs.
•    Knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid flow.
•    Ability to size equipment such as pumps, tanks, non-fired pressure vessels, compressors, boilers, heat exchangers.
•    Ability to calculate pipe sizes for compressible and incompressible flows.
•    Basic knowledge of pipe materials, valves, relief valves and control valves.
•    Ability to coordinate questions to/from equipment suppliers and reviewing submittal documents.
•    Knowledge and capability to write equipment specifications.

Physical Requirements:
•    Office environment with travel to customer sites as required. 
•    While on site, may require protective equipment (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, etc.)

Education / Experience:
•    B.S. Chemical Engineering or similar degree from an ABET accredited college.
•    15+ years working as an Engineer.
•    Experience with water treatment, gas-fired generation, renewable energy, and/or HVAC and fire protection systems, preferred. 
•    PE license preferred.


Compensation:
The hourly pay for this position generally ranges between $$57 - $69
