Job Description
** Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is looking for an experienced GIS Tech to fill a three-year assignment in the Birmingham, AL area.

This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.

Education & Experience:
4 + Years of in-depth experience with GIS tools, databases, and methodologies Bachelor's degree in Geographical Information Systems, Geography, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred
Proficiency with Python or other scripting languages
GIS Professional (GISP) Certification is a plus
Esri certifications are a plus
A background in utilities industry, specifically fiber network design, construction or maintenance is preferred OSPInsight, 3-GIS or other fiber management software experience is preferred
Understanding of GIS theory and application
Working knowledge of Esri software, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise Broad knowledge of Remote Sensing, Global Positioning System (GPS), and the application of other GIS technologies and current industry trends

Responsibilities:
Oversee GIS technical operations, ensuring optimal data management and visualization practices
Lead complex GIS projects, from data management to visualization
Mentor junior GIS technicians
Ensure alignment of technical activities with GIS strategies
Engage with stakeholders on GIS technical requirements
Drive continuous improvement in GIS technical operations
Analytical and creative approach to problem solving
Self-directed with strong initiative
Highly organized with ability to attend to details Excellent written and oral communication skills Positive team player, flexible with changing priorities, and seeks opportunities for process improvement
Ability to effectively organize tasks, manage multiple priorities/details, meet schedules, and deliver on customer commitments
