Overview:
The System Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems within industrial plants.
They collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize plant processes, enhance efficiency, and ensure reliable operation.
Role is to provide temporary backfill for Mechanical System Engineering Functions.

Job Description
The mechanical system engineer ensures sustained long-term equipment performance. System engineers integrate reliability strategies into station operations, focusing on proactive identification and resolution of equipment issues before failure.
The system engineer collaborates with maintenance, fleet engineering and operations teams to optimize asset health, minimize risk, and maintain compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.
The System Engineer role can be described as 50% Technical research and 50 % Project Management.
Successful candidates are able to balance performing technical evaluations, such as plant trend reviews, research failure modes and maintenance strategy reviews; and are also able to coordinate with Operators, Maintenance and others to ensure the correct work is performed at the right time.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering. Experience:
10 + years' experience
Prior experience in industrial automation, control systems, or process engineering.
Requirements:
The following are minimum required PPE: Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Safety Gloves, Sturdy Work Shoes and Hearing Protection
Successful candidates must provide their own safety shoes
Job responsibilities:
Personnel will be expected to conduct field walkdowns of a Nuclear Power Plant
Employees will be expected to traverse through an industrial facility and may be exposed to some or all of the following hazards: Slippery surfaces [Oil, Water Leaks, etc.]
Confined Space Entries [Inspections inside Tanks]
Walking/Maneuvering through tight spaces
Potential headknockers/obstacles at walking height among other typical hazards for an industrial facility
System Design:
Develop and design control systems, instrumentation, and automation solutions for plant equipment and processes.
Integration:
Integrate various subsystems (such as PLCs, SCADA, DCS) to create a cohesive and efficient plant-wide system.
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to plant systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
Process Optimization: Analyze data, identify bottlenecks, and propose improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
Maintenance:
Oversee system maintenance, upgrades, and preventive measures.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and environmental guidelines.
Skills:
Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley)
Knowledge of HMI/SCADA systems.
Familiarity with P&IDs (Process and Instrumentation Diagrams). Strong problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
