Key Project Requirements:
• Direct operating experience on GE 7FA simple-cycle gas turbines
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience supporting commissioning activities
• Ability to support mechanical system walkdowns, lockout/tagout, and system alignments
Job Summary:
NAES is seeking a Plant Operator to support startup and commissioning activities at a simple-cycle gas turbine power plant. This role will initially provide hands-on support to commissioning and mechanical teams through system walkdowns, lockout/tagout execution, system alignments, and mechanical readiness activities while units are being prepared for first fire and initial operation. As systems are energized and placed into service, the role will transition into a Plant Operator position supporting day-to-day operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support mechanical commissioning activities, including system walkdowns, punch-list verification, and system readiness reviews
• Execute and verify lockout/tagout activities in accordance with site safety procedures
• Perform system alignments, valve lineups, and pre-operational checks
• Assist commissioning and mechanical teams during initial system turnover and startup activities
• Operate GE 7FA simple-cycle gas turbines during commissioning, first fire, and early operation
• Transition into a Lead Operator role as systems are placed into service
• Monitor plant systems, respond to alarms, and support safe startup and shutdown activities
• Maintain accurate logs, reports, and operational documentation
• Adhere to all safety, environmental, and operational procedures
Job Requirements:
• Prior experience operating simple-cycle gas turbine power plants
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with hands-on commissioning or startup support experience
• Strong understanding of lockout/tagout, system alignments, and plant safety practices
• Ability to work extended hours, rotating shifts, and commissioning schedules as required
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with commissioning, mechanical, and operations teams
Education / Experience:
• 7+ years of power plant operations experience preferred
• Prior commissioning or startup experience strongly preferred
