Key Project Requirements:
Experience with various power plant turbines preferred (Steam & Gas)
Industries (Coal, Simple & Combined Cycle, Solar and etc)
Will also consider candidates with Advanced-Class gas turbine commissioning experience, including:
15+ years commissioning experience combined with business acumen expected to interface with EPC, owner, and vendors.
Job Summary:
Amperion has an exciting opportunity for a Startup & Commissioning Manager supporting various power plant projects. This role will provide commissioning oversight of turbines. Reporting to the Site Lead, the Commissioning Manager will oversee commissioning activities, ensure safety and quality standards are met, and act as a key liaison between internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with deep technical knowledge of advanced-class gas turbines and a proven ability to drive safe, efficient commercial operation.
Coordinates directly with the Startup & Commissioning Execution Team on day to day needs and assignments. The SM is responsible for all activities associated with completing the scope of work for the assigned project. Will generate a Plan of the Day and Weekly Report which will be given to the Project Manager and the Startup & Commissioning Execution Team. The Startup Manager is the primary contact for all permanent and temporary employees assigned to the startup team concerning all aspects of their employment. Responsible for ensuring that all startup activities are performed in a professional manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and inspire contract partners and site personnel to uphold safety, quality, and commissioning standards aligned with project goals
Coordinate schedules and interfaces across multiple projects and third-party stakeholders
Monitor EPC contractor activities to ensure compliance with the CPM schedule and contract requirements; report on progress and performance
Act as the primary interface between site personnel and client/home office engineering teams
Resolve safety and quality issues in collaboration with safety, engineering, and QA/QC leads
Foster a collaborative team environment across all commissioning tasks and project disciplines
Administer startup-related subcontractor responsibilities
Ensure commissioning efforts support long-term goals for maintainability, operability, and sustainability
Job Requirements:
Ability to identify and escalate performance issues of the EPC scope and communicate their impact on the Programs objectives.
Proficient in monitoring and controlling project costs as well as building reports to communicate effectively with all project teams.
Adept with analyzing project schedules and assessing performance and progress based on resource loading.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication, both written and verbal, to include interpersonal skills that involve engagement and collaboration with all project stakeholders.
Ability to work well under pressure as well as meet project deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, walk/stand for extended periods, bend, and climb ladders as required
Education / Experience:
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
15+ years of experience in project management or project controls related to commissioning, with a track record of successful project delivery.
Proficient in project management software and tools, including Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Excel
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
