Lead Electrical Design Engineer (Power Generation)
Long-term contract in Birmingham, AL. Very competitive pay, time and a half for OT, Mob/Demob, and strong per diem.

Requirements:
B.S. degree in electrical engineering
8-15+ years in electrical design engineering for power generation or heavy industrial
Background in EPC project environments
Proficiency with AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar tools
Background in mentoring junior engineers
PE License a plus, not required.
Responsibilities:
Serve as a Lead Electrical or I&C Design Engineer for simple cycle power generation projects including med-high voltage, switchgear, MCCs, etc.
Develop one-lines, wiring diagrams, and control narratives; Coordinate grounding, lighting, and cable routing
Ensure compliance with NEC and IEEE standards
Develop equipment layouts and specs; guide 3D modeling and construction drawing development
Provide hands-on design leadership with mentoring responsibilities for junior engineers
Conduct design reviews with a coaching mindset; Review and approve design packages
Coordinate with procurement and construction teams
Support vendor coordination and equipment selection
Resolve field issues (RFIs, design changes)
