Education & Certification

Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or actively working toward licensure.
Minimum of 7 years of relevant industrial experience in instrumentation, preferably in EPC environments.

Job Summary

The Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of instrumentation systems for power generation and distribution projects. This includes work on gas turbines, renewables, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, and transmission systems. The engineer will contribute to the development of complete construction packages for power generation islands supporting data center operations.

Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed design deliverables including:
Instrumentation location plans
Interconnect diagrams
Loop sheet diagrams
Instrument data sheets
Instrumentation cable schedules
Material take-offs (MTOs)
Pipe & Instrument Data (P&IDs)
Perform engineering calculations to validate design integrity.
Design and implement instrumentation systems for process control and monitoring.
Prepare construction packages and support field implementation.
Ensure designs meet client expectations, industry standards, and project specifications.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project alignment.
Provide on-site startup and commissioning support as needed.
Recognize and communicate scope changes and design updates promptly.
Utilize AI to create efficiencies where applicable and appropriate.
Participate in design and safety reviews, including HAZOPs
Forecasting engineering manpower to maintain multiple project schedules.

Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.

Technical Skills & Knowledge
Knowledgeable in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Plant 3D, and ElecDes)
Proficiency in PLCs, DCS System Architecture and optimization, OT, SCADA systems, EMS/PMS and field instrumentation, including industry approved protocols.
Strong understanding of NEC, IEEE, ISA, and other relevant codes and standards.
Ability to produce efficient, constructible designs with attention to cost and schedule.
Experience with EPC project workflows and documentation standards.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, & Outlook)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
