Constructability Coordinator II – Lighting Systems (NEC)
Location: Birmingham, AL
Contract- 3 Years
Client: Alabama Power
Position Summary
The Constructability Coordinator II works closely with Account Executives and Lighting Design Analysts to ensure outdoor NEC lighting systems are designed, installed, and maintained in compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and local regulations across Alabama.
This role is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, tracking, and managing lighting system installations and maintenance projects. The coordinator ensures quality control, contractor performance oversight, code compliance, cost management, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Lighting Design & Constructability
Collaborate with Lighting Account Executives, Sales Consultants, and Lighting Design Analysts to ensure lighting designs meet NEC, safety, and Southern Company specifications
Conduct pre-construction job site visits to identify potential conflicts or safety concerns
Participate in lighting project design assistance and review
Construction Coordination & Oversight
Coordinate pre-construction meetings with internal teams and customers
Manage installation and repair of lighting and associated distribution facilities
Ensure required permits and utility locates are secured and remain valid
Manage project schedules to meet commitment dates
Contractor & Workforce Management
Oversee contractor performance and provide feedback
Review and approve contract labor unit sheets
Track labor costs and ensure proper charging to the correct DWE
Approve contractor invoices
Quality Control & Compliance
Inspect completed lighting installations and repairs
Ensure compliance with NEC, company specifications, and safety standards
Address lighting maintenance issues for internal and external customers
Ensure projects are delivered safely and within cost estimates
Required Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
Associate or Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in outdoor NEC lighting system design and installation
Experience managing contractor workforce
Experience with lighting system installation, repair, and maintenance
Electrical License in the State of Alabama
Master Electrician License (required)
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC)
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Familiarity with LAMP, CAMP, and Fulcrum systems
Project scheduling and tracking
Budget and labor unit management
