I&C Designer III (Instrumentation & Controls)

Work Arrangement: Primarily Remote | Occasional Site/Office Travel

Position Overview
The I&C Designer III is responsible for producing high-quality instrumentation and control system designs in support of plant and industrial projects. This role provides engineering design services, field support, and project coordination while leading assignments with appropriate oversight.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in instrumentation systems, P&ID development, DCS wiring, and field-based design validation.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Drafting
Produce detailed design drawings using CAD or integrated design tools
Prepare layouts and conceptual designs for instrumentation systems
Develop installation details and instrumentation layouts
Prepare and review design calculations
Instrumentation & Controls Engineering
Develop instrument datasheets
Design and support:
Pressure devices
Flow devices
Temperature devices
Work extensively with:
P&IDs
DCS wiring diagrams
Loop sheets
Field Support & Site Activities
Conduct site walkdowns at construction sites
Provide engineering field support during installation and commissioning
Validate design accuracy and constructability in field environments
Travel as required depending on project needs
Project Leadership & Coordination
Provide schedule and staffing input for assigned projects
Lead projects with appropriate oversight
Coordinate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Build effective relationships with:
Plant staff
Design engineering teams
Vendors
Required Qualifications
7–10 years of related experience in instrumentation and controls design
Experience with CAD platforms or integrated design tools
Strong experience in:
Instrument services and field support
P&ID development
DCS wiring diagrams
Loop sheets
Experience developing:
Instrument datasheets
Installation details
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to travel as project requirements dictate
