Job Opportunity
Structural Designer III
Power Generation/ Industrial
Contract - Birmingham, AL (anticipated 9-12 months with strong potential for extension). Very competitive pay, time-and-a-half for OT, Mob/Demob, and strong per diem.

Join a growing engineering team supporting large-scale power generation and infrastructure projects, including gas turbines, renewables, BESS, substations, and transmission systems. You'll contribute to the development of construction-ready structural designs that go directly into the field.

Per diem is strong, if you qualify.
Requirements:
Associate degree in Engineering Technology, CAD, or related field
5+ years of structural design/drafting experience (typical for this level)
Experience in industrial, energy, or infrastructure projects
Familiarity with EPC environments or multidisciplinary project teams
Strong understanding of structural steel and concrete detailing
Proficiency with:
AutoCAD (required)
Revit, Navisworks, or similar 3D tools (preferred)
Ability to interpret vendor equipment drawings and integrate into structural layouts
Responsibilities:
Develop construction drawings and structural deliverables for steel and concrete systems
Interpret project scope, specifications, and design criteria
Review and incorporate vendor and interdisciplinary layouts into structural designs
Support material take-offs (MTOs), cost estimates, and preliminary studies
Perform field investigations to verify site conditions, clearances, and constructibility
Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and electrical teams for integrated design
Review and check drawings from other designers and vendors for accuracy and compliance
Support construction activities, including site visits and field issue resolution
Assist with scheduling and task planning to meet project deadlines
Mentor junior designers and support team development
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of structural materials, detailing, and construction practices
Experience producing accurate, constructible designs for industrial applications
Familiarity with EPC workflows and fast-paced project environments
Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and virtual environments
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
