Instrumentation Designer III (Power Generation / Industrial Projects)
Contract Birmingham, AL (anticipated 9-12 months with strong potential for extension). Very competitive pay, time-and-a-half for OT, Mob/Demob, and strong per diem.
Join a growing engineering team supporting power generation and infrastructure projects, including gas turbines, substations, renewables, BESS, and datacenter power systems. You'll develop construction-ready instrumentation designs that go directly into the field.

US Citizenship Required
Requirements:
Associate degree in Engineering Technology, CAD, or related field
7+ years of instrumentation design experience in industrial or power environments
Familiarity with EPC or multidisciplinary project teams
Strong understanding of instrumentation systems, materials, and construction practices
Working knowledge of NEC and industry standards
Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Plant 3D, Revit, Navisworks, or ElecDes preferred
Ability to interpret vendor drawings and equipment layouts
Responsibilities:
Develop instrumentation deliverables, including installation details, loop sheets, P&IDs, control panel layouts, and plans
Create installation drawings from vendor documentation
Support MTOs, cost estimates, and construction packages
Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, civil, and structural teams
Provide field support during construction and startup
Identify scope changes and support project schedules
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of instrumentation systems and construction practices
Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Plant 3D, Revit, Navisworks, and ElecDes preferred
Working knowledge of NEC and industry standards
Ability to interpret vendor drawings and develop constructible designs
Familiarity with EPC workflows and coordination
Knowledge of drafting standards and best practices
