Talascend is currently seeking a Geotechnical Field Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Reeves County, Texas.

Overview

This position is for a senior geotechnical field engineer to provide full-time field support during earthworks operations at a project site near Pecos, TX. The successful candidate will work independently, coordinating with various technical disciplines to support geotechnical investigations and earthworks activities.

Responsibilities

Support the earthworks operations at the project site
Develop and implement geotechnical investigations
Originate and review geotechnical engineering designs and specifications
Perform engineering calculations and prepare geotechnical studies in accordance with applicable standards
Track scope of work, schedule, and budgets
Coordinate with other technical disciplines and project teams
Provide on-site technical supervision of earthworks activities
Support soil and rock excavation activities
Review vendor submittals and incorporate information into the design solutions
Prepare or review technical memos and reports
Qualifications

M.S. degree in geotechnical engineering or related discipline from an accredited university
11 years of progressive relevant experience in the field
Advanced knowledge of earthworks, with emphasis on cold weather practices
Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
Knowledge of site and subsurface investigation, foundation design, and slope stability analysis
Familiarity with industry guides, codes, and standards
Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills
Experience with geotechnical software such as Slope/W, Plaxis, etc., and Microsoft Office programs
Previous experience working on earthworks for large-scale projects
Preferred Qualifications

Registered geotechnical professional engineer (P.E.) or equivalent
Related experience in geotechnics applied to earthworks design and construction
Knowledge of relevant geotechnical software and computational tools
