** Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is looking for an experienced Chemical Technician to fill a one-year assignment in the Billingsley, AL area.

This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.

Job Title: Chemical Technician

Work Location: Billingsley, AL

Requirements:

Required PPE: Hard hat, Steel toe/Safety toe boots, Safety glasses, Full face respirator, Hearing protection

Qualifications:
BS degree in Chemistry or other field of science with a MINIMUM of 12 semester hours in Chemistry required.
Certified Chemical Technician (CCT) credential
Certified Laboratory Safety Professional (CLSP) credential
Experience and competency in the use, calibration and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation/equipment
Knowledge of proper analytical methods and techniques

Preferred Skills & Experience:
Prior experience and knowledge of boiler/water analysis preferred.
Previous work experience in a water treatment plant preferred.
Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.
Familiarity with mechanical parts and repair is preferred.
Knowledge and experience in production of deionized water is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
Tracking inventory
Prioritizing orders
Maintaining lab equipment
Documenting the processes during each chemical test
Following environmental regulations
Reviewing newly published safety protocols from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFRA)
Preparing chemical solutions
Completing chemical orders
Storing solutions safely according to different temperature requirements
Conducting lab tests to ensure that chemicals are safe to use
Recording and troubleshooting issues for further assessment
Compiling and interpreting lab test results
Correcting potential anomalies in results
Monitoring chemical processes and resolving production issues by meeting with the appropriate personnel
Producing and retrieving graphical results to share with lab managers or more senior personnel
Sterilizing work surfaces and equipment before using them
Replacing worn or damaged equipment as needed
Training new technicians on different chemical processes and periodically updating their knowledge of chemical technology
