TTS' Industrial Services Group is looking for an experienced HVAC/Cleanroom Commissioning & Start-Up Engineer to support a large-scale, high-tech manufacturing project in the Northeastern United States. This is a full-time, on-site field assignment focused on transitioning HVAC and cleanroom systems from construction through commissioning, qualification, and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities for HVAC and cleanroom systems.
- Commission air-handling units, makeup-air units, exhaust systems, recirculation air handlers, and fan-filter units.
- Perform testing, adjusting, and balancing of air and hydronic systems.
- Verify cleanroom pressure cascades, differential pressures, and airflow direction.
- Conduct HEPA/ULPA filter-integrity and leak testing using DOP/PAO methods.
- Perform particle-count testing and support cleanroom qualification to applicable ISO 14644 classifications.
- Verify temperature, humidity, recovery performance, and humidification/dehumidification systems.
- Test HVAC controls, interlocks, smoke and fire dampers, and building-management-system integration.
- Perform system walkdowns against P&IDs, design drawings, and approved test packages.
- Identify, document, and track punch-list items and deficiencies through closure.
- Maintain commissioning records and system-status documentation.
- Support system turnover and coordinate with construction, engineering, vendors, operations, and other commissioning disciplines.
- Follow established LOTO, energization-permit, and simultaneous-operations requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant field experience.
- At least 10 years of commissioning and start-up experience in industrial, high-tech manufacturing, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or cleanroom facilities.
- Hands-on experience commissioning HVAC and cleanroom systems.
- Experience with cleanroom qualification under ISO 14644.
- Knowledge of TAB, filter-integrity testing, pressurization-cascade verification, and applicable ASHRAE standards.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, design drawings, and related technical documentation.
- Familiarity with commissioning test packages, checklists, punch lists, and system-turnover processes.
- Strong understanding of safe work practices, including LOTO and controlled system energization.
- Effective field coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
