TTS' Industrial Services Group is looking for an experienced Instrumentation Commissioning & Start-Up Engineer to support the commissioning of a large-scale, advanced manufacturing facility in the Northeastern United States. This is a full-time, on-site field assignment focused on bringing instrumentation and control-valve systems safely from construction completion through testing, turnover, and operational readiness.
Responsibilities
- Calibrate and verify pressure, flow, level, and temperature instruments, gauges, transmitters, and analyzers.
- Perform loop checks from field devices through I/O to the control system.
- Verify instrument scaling, engineering units, alarms, interlocks, and trip functions.
- Stroke and test control valves, dampers, and actuators, including fail-safe positions and limit switches.
- Commission analytical instruments and associated sample systems.
- Perform system walkdowns using P&IDs and design drawings.
- Identify, document, and track deficiencies and punch-list items through closure.
- Maintain calibration records, loop documentation, test results, and system status.
- Support point-to-point checkout with controls and integrated control system teams.
- Coordinate with construction, engineering, vendors, operations, and client representatives.
- Follow approved commissioning procedures, test packages, LOTO requirements, energization permits, and SIMOPS controls.
- Support system turnover and manufacturing tool-install readiness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant field experience.
- At least 10 years of commissioning and start-up experience in industrial, advanced manufacturing, high-tech, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or cleanroom facilities.
- Strong hands-on experience commissioning field instrumentation and control valves.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, single-line diagrams, control drawings, and other technical documentation.
- Working knowledge of commissioning test packages, checklists, punch-list management, and system turnover.
- Familiarity with DCS, PLC, SCADA, or BMS integration.
- Experience with loop tuning, FAT/SAT activities, and calibration traceability in accordance with ISA practices.
- Strong understanding of LOTO, energization permitting, and field commissioning safety requirements.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary field environment.
- Willingness and ability to work full-time on-site in the Northeastern United States.
