Job Summary
Georgia Power is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Specialist I to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of instrumentation and control systems at a power generation facility. The ideal candidate will have experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Turbine Control Systems (TCS), or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and possess strong troubleshooting skills in plant instrumentation, electrical systems, and process controls. This position requires participation in an on-call rotation, including weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plant instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment.
• Configure, test, and support Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Turbine Control Systems (TCS), and PLC-based control systems.
• Diagnose and resolve instrumentation and control issues to maximize plant reliability and availability.
• Support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
• Assist with control system upgrades, testing, commissioning, and system modifications.
• Interpret electrical schematics, loop diagrams, P&IDs, and control documentation.
• Support plant operations by optimizing control strategies and improving system performance.
• Ensure compliance with plant safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company standards.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and contractors to resolve technical issues.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency response, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
• Four-year degree, two-year technical certification, Associate degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, or equivalent experience.
• ABET-accredited Engineering degree required for Engineer candidates.
• Experience with DCS, TCS, or PLC control systems is required.
• Experience with instrumentation, electronics, control systems, or electrical maintenance.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to understand plant processes, boiler controls, and industrial control systems.
• Willingness to participate in rotating on-call responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Emerson Ovation DCS.
• Experience with GE Mark VIe turbine control systems.
• Experience in power generation, industrial manufacturing, or utility operations.
• Knowledge of process instrumentation, loop calibration, and plant electrical systems.
