Talascend is currently seeking a Field Cost Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Portland, Texas.

Overview

This role involves cost control and analysis activities for large-scale projects with significant non-routine requirements. The position requires technical expertise in preparing cost studies, reviewing cost trends, and providing innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges. The work will be based at the project site in Corpus Christi Liquefaction in Portland, TX.

Responsibilities

Establish, maintain, and monitor project budgets, change management, cost monitoring, cost variance analysis, quantity and craft labor reporting (QURR), and other periodic cost reports.
Prepare and present various cost studies utilizing historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons.
Identify, analyze, and provide innovative solutions using cost engineering principles and identify trends for management attention.
Assist in developing unit job hour and pricing data for specific disciplines or specialties, perform data analysis, identify problems, and make recommendations.
Support and engage with field engineering, construction discipline, and other project professionals across various disciplines daily.
Actively participate in field construction activities, review construction progress, perform site walkdowns, safety reviews, and coordinate cost activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) with 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
General understanding of EPC contract types and work breakdown structure on large EPC projects
Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing cost engineering functions such as cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis in the field
Advanced knowledge of budget monitoring of construction activities at the commodity level
Experience analyzing craft productivity and recommending performance improvements
Ability to identify potential issues promptly and propose mitigation steps (Change Management)
Understanding of earning methodologies for actual installed quantities (Rules of Credit)
Experience working with multiple disciplines, coordinating cost activities, and managing tasks
Proficiency in using discipline-specific software such as Ecosys and Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of engineering and construction management acquired through instruction or practical experience
This is a field position; candidate must be willing to work onsite in an active construction environment
Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
