Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Manager
Work Location: Box Springs, GA
Qualifications:
Education should include a 4-year degree in either health & safety, or environmental compliance.
Experience should include 10 years or more in health & safety, or environmental compliance, and at least 5 years experience in the other area.
Certifications should include those applicable in the State of Georgia in each area.
The combined education experience and certifications will be considered in the event applicants are lacking in any area.
Job Description:
Successful applicant will become part of the owners project management team, on the construction of a new combustion turbine generating unit at an operating simple cycle combustion turbine power plant site. There will be one general contractor (GC) with a small number of subcontractors, and 100 - 175 contract employees overall. The GCs safety program will be utilized, and the GC will have safety personnel overseeing their work and employees. Environmental compliance will be based on applicable permits and regulations.
The roles and responsibilities of the EHS manager will include but not be limited to:
Monitoring, inspecting and providing oversight on the environmental, health and safety aspects and activities of the GCs work
Documenting and reporting EHS compliance
Reviewing and auditing contractors EHS documentation
Participating in project meetings, safety meetings and job specific safety briefings
Interacting with project and owner personnel at all levels, developing a safety and environmental compliance culture
Areas of health and safety engagement include all those typical to industrial construction, trench safety, working at height, lock-out/tag-out, personal protective equipment etc.
Areas of environmental engagement include stormwater erosion control, hazardous waste disposal, spill prevention and response, etc.
Support response efforts to EHS incidents and participate and/or lead investigations into incidents and near misses, reporting and development of solutions
Assisting in development and implementation of EHS awareness and promotional efforts
