Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is currently looking for an Environmental Specialist, with a Science (chemistry, biology, environmental science) or engineering degree with a minimum of 15 semester hours of chemistry, to fill a contract position in Calera, AL. This is estimated to last 3-year duration. Temporary position.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Work safely, identify and implement corrective actions for unsafe working conditions.
Conduct diverse complex chemical analyses using a variety of laboratory instrumentations and analytical methodologies.
Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to write technical documents and analytical procedures and perform advanced analytical testing.
Ensure analytical methods comply with regulatory and/or customer requirements.
Establish and evaluate analytical data and process quality control.
Prioritize and manage daily workloads.
Maintain analytical instrument performances and monitor supply inventories for assigned methodologies.
Consistently maintain attention to detail while performing all job duties.
Maintain excellent lines of communication with co-workers and customers.

Job Requirements
Education & Experience
Science (chemistry, biology, environmental science) or engineering degree with a minimum of 15 semester hours of chemistry.
Experience utilizing analytical reference methods and instrumentation to perform analyses is preferred.
Experience with quality control requirements for analytical methods.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge in EPA, ASTM, Standard Methods and other reference standards and their application is required.
Ability to use technical standard operating procedures to perform analyses.
Ability to interface with a variety of internal/external work groups and customers.
Demonstrated attention to detail is required.
Ability to understand technical procedures to evaluate sample data.
Analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation issues.

This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.
