An EIT Certification is desirable. Estimated to last 10 months temporary position.

JOB SUMMARY
The Engineer Design contractor position assists in the planning, design, and development of technical standards for gas distribution infrastructure projects.
The right candidate must be a self-starter, excellent communicator, critical thinker and able to make sound decisions.
The Engineer 1 position requires 0-3 years of related experience and an accredited bachelor’s degree with a focus in Mechanical, Civil or General engineering experience.
Responsible for applying engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications to design and construct power related systems.
Supports estimate preparation, develops design options, and prepares construction specifications.
Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews for approved contractors as they develop design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Creating a safe work environment by putting safety first
Understand the process used for planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance
Understanding the functions and activities of various internal departments involved in design, construction, and maintenance
Understanding design practices and work processes
Using all software applications used in design, understanding industry and Company design standards
Supporting design standard and criteria development for the system
Supporting construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operations
Estimating material for projects
Transmitting construction packages
Supporting specifications.

SKILLSETS and EXPERTISE

Introductory engineering knowledge, basic problem-solving skills, limited discretion making independent decisions based on procedure and review with supervisor
Basic discipline software knowledge, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.

As our Engineer in the design group, a typical day might include:
Working on gas storage or gas fueling station assignments
Performing assignments involving the design of components or functionality of pipeline products
Involved in the planning and design of mechanical equipment and components involving maintenance of mechanical equipment.
Performing system balances to determine the best overall solution to solve system issues or identify system low points and methods to best solve them.
Provide oversight and support for construction activities

What candidate will need to qualify for this position:
BA/BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil or General)
1-3 years of progressive Engineering experience
Or
Equivalent academic education and experience

Certifications/Licenses:
Preferred: Engineer in Training (E.I.T.)

Required Skills:
Project Management
Ability to communicate with all levels in the organization
Computer Assisted Design/Geographic Information System - basic proficiency
MS Office - advanced proficiency
CAD/GIS - intermediate proficiency

This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary
