SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of a welder is to cut, fit and weld pipe for marine piping systems. Personal signs Q & A documents for pipe joint fit up and weld requirements. Personal signs for the completeness of work in work packages.

JOB DUTIES
• Torch cuts pipe clean and true welds pipe without leaks in positions with minimal clearance determines job sites, particularly those involving combustible material, are safe for personnel and, when required, hot work creates and maintains a work site that is compliant with safety and quality regulations and policies
• Read and interpret weld symbols or blueprints, schematics and job specifications
• Working knowledge of TIG welding processes including stainless steel and copper nickel alloys
• Working knowledge of the use and limitations of 6011, 6010 and 7018 (SMAW welding) and/or silver braze rods
• Working knowledge of the use and limitations of flux core processes
QUALIFICATIONS
• Valid driver’s license or state issued id card
• Ability to pass a government security background check
• Must have reliable transportation
• Must be able to obtain a DBIDS
• Must be able to pass a drug screen and physical

EDUCATION
• This trade position shall have two years of shipboard experience and be at journeyman level of competence and should have a minimum of a high school degree or technical vocational high school degree
• Experience in Marine welding/shipyard environment
LANGUAGE
• Ability to effectively present information (verbally and in writing) in one-on-one and small group situations to clients, vendors and other employees of the organization
• Ability to comprehend and respond to verbal and written information conveyed by clients, vendors and other employees of the organization
• Ability to enter, transcribe, record, store and maintain information in written and electronic/magnetic form

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The individual is usually exposed to construction sites, primarily on ships and may be dusty, noisy and, at times, face extreme heat or cold. The individual in this position is required to be in constant contact with others (face-to-face, via telephone and electronic means) to perform essential duties. The position may occasionally require work outside of regular business hours and requires travel by motor vehicle in all types of weather and requires the individual to provide and wear any necessary personal protection equipment (PPE’s).
