NSC Staffing is currently hiring a Weld Quality Manager.
The Weld Quality Manager must have a broad knowledge of assembly and erection of steel and aluminum hull vessels and be a certified weld instructor (CWI). Must be familiar with the installation of all outfitting items required. Must be capable of reading and understanding shipyard construction and work package assembly drawings. Must be familiar with the techniques used in the proper alignment of components of sub-assemblies. Must have basic knowledge of acceptable welds and weld preparation and coordinate with other shifts and departments. Must comply with all safety procedures and guidelines, and comply with all company issued policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Must have excellent work ethic including excellent attendance, punctuality, and the desire to complete designated work in a timely fashion. Must be an excellent communicator and be computer literate.
This position is located at Quonset Point in North Kingstown, R.I.
Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in marine engineering or equivalent.
Must have at least 2 years’ experience in Marine construction, preferably Vessel repair.
Responsible for safety by enforcing safety guidelines and proper use of PPE.
Responsible for maintaining work schedules.
Enforces all company policies.
Trains and develops subordinates.
Responsible for maintaining proper manpower levels as needed to support schedule and budget.
Coordinate with Repair Manager for quality issues and inspections.
Review and maintain production schedules in detail and work with other crafts to maintain delivery dates as required.
Coordinates with Maintenance and Facilities on any related issues.
Responsible for area cleanliness.
Must have good organizational skills and ability to accomplish the required assignments within designated timeframes.
Must have ability to communicate effectively with different levels of management, craft, and different departments.
Must have a willingness to learn new techniques.
Must be detail orientated and have excellent follow up skills.
Must be a self-starter able to perform job duties with little or no supervision.
Must be able to meet the work schedule.
Must be able to maintain a clean work environment.
Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Senesco job hazard analysis.
Depending on the project, this job classification may require that you be certified and or licensed on equipment, and electric powered forklifts and man lifts.
Physical Demands
The employee must have correctable vision to 20/40; however, contact lenses are not permitted in certain production area positions.
The employee must pass the Ishihara test for color blindness and can read and understand safety symbols and colors, (i.e., red, yellow, green, etc.).
The employee must be able to stand, sit, walk, squat, kneel, stoop, or climb stairs or a ladder of up to 15 steps.
The employee may be required to carry items up to a maximum of 20 pounds.
Work Demands
The employee is required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to respirator, hardhat, face shield, safety goggles, safety shoes (steel toe), safety harness, gloves or other protective clothing as determined by a Senesco Marine Job Hazard Analysis.
The employee must report all accidents or injuries to their supervisor and the Environmental Safety and Health Department.
The employee must report to the Assembly Shop Manager all damage to equipment or broken and misused tools.
The employee needs to work at a pace consistent with meeting company deadlines.
