[Shipfitter] Ship Fitters - 40-60 hours a week plus $100 for 12 months

360X Staffing Marine Division is hiring for Ship Fitters with fitting experience. This position is responsible for steel fitting on equipment, parts, ship interiors/exteriors, and shipyard buildings.


Primary Responsibilities:
Work under intermittent supervision and follow directions.
Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.
Align and fit parts according to specifications.
Move parts into position manually or with hoists/cranes.
Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units, following blueprints.
Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials and task sequences.
Set up and operate fabricating machines (e.g., brakes, rolls, shears, cutting torches, grinders, drill presses) to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or assemble metal components.
Lay out and examine metal stock or workpieces to ensure specifications are met.
Tack-weld fitted parts together.
Remove high spots and cut bevels using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches.
Mark reference points onto floors or face blocks and transpose them to workpieces.
Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, bolt straps, or bolt parts for welding or riveting.
Erect ladders and scaffolding for assembling large components.
Design and construct templates and fixtures using hand tools.
Hammer, chip, and grind workpieces to cut, bend, and straighten metal.
Straighten warped or bent parts using sledges, hand torches, and presses.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment issues.
Properly store equipment.
Perform miscellaneous tasks outside of the primary craft as required.
Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
Maintain a commitment to quality and environmental, health, and safety standards.


Required Abilities & Skills:
Steady hand and arm coordination for precision work.
Strong close-range vision.
Ability to adjust machine or vehicle controls accurately.
Troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues.
Strong spatial awareness and ability to visualize object movements.
Dexterity to grasp, manipulate, and assemble objects.
Core strength for prolonged physical activity.
Ability to engage in highly energetic waterfront work.
