Job Title: Diesel Maintenance Mechanic
Location: Grandview, IN
Basic Purpose and Function:
As a Diesel Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of diesel engines, including those in 3/4 ton trucks, forklifts, pumps, hydraulic equipment, and heavy equipment. Your role will involve ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of diesel-powered machinery through preventative maintenance and timely repairs.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Expertise in diesel engine maintenance and repair across a range of vehicles and equipment, including trucks, forklifts, pumps, hydraulic systems, and heavy machinery.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting diesel engine issues to determine necessary repairs.
- Knowledge of routine maintenance procedures such as oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and engine tune-ups.
- Ability to perform mechanical repairs, including engine overhauls, brake replacements, and electrical system troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems and pumps commonly found in diesel-powered equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols in a workshop environment.
- Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet maintenance schedules.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new diesel engine technologies and equipment.
Education, Certifications, and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Proven experience as a diesel mechanic with hands-on experience working on a variety of diesel engines.
- Technical training or certification in diesel engine maintenance and repair is preferred.
Major Responsibilities (Functions/Duties):
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks on diesel engines, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engine issues, including engine performance problems, electrical system faults, and hydraulic equipment malfunctions.
- Perform engine tune-ups, brake repairs, and other mechanical maintenance as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities for each piece of equipment.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure timely completion of repairs and servicing tasks.
- Adhere to safety procedures and regulations while working with diesel engines and equipment.
