We have an exciting new opportunity for a Traveling Welder in Portsmouth Virginia!
Qualifications:
- Must have active Secret Clearance
- Must have a minimum of 6 years of welding experience in the trade
- Must be willing to travel to multiple locations throughout the country
- Must be able to certify to OII-MSD SMAW and GTAW weld procedures (documentation required)
- Proficient in welding carbon and stainless steel piping and structural components.
- Strong understanding of welding safety procedures, codes, and best practices (e.g., ASME, AWS standards).
Job duties entail but are not limited to:
- Perform high-quality welds using SMAW and GTAW in accordance with OII-MSD weld procedures.
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Prepare materials and surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and fitting components.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of welds to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Follow all company safety protocols and procedures while working in varied environments (field, industrial sites, confined spaces, heights).
- Work collaboratively with site supervisors, QA/QC inspectors, and other trades to ensure project deadlines are met.
- Maintain and calibrate welding equipment and tools as required.
- Complete daily job logs, timesheets, and weld reports accurately and timely.
Schedule:
May work 8,10 or 12 hours shifts.
Pay starts at $33/hr plus Per Diem for those that qualify
