The NAVSEA FCAW Welder is responsible for performing high-quality Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) on U.S. Navy vessels, components, and structural assemblies in accordance with NAVSEA S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248, T9074-AS-GIB-010/271, and applicable shipyard procedures. This position requires the ability to pass and maintain NAVSEA welder qualifications and produce welds that meet strict military standards for safety, structural integrity, and workmanship.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform FCAW welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, HY-series steels, and other NAVSEA-approved materials.
Lay out, fit, and weld components in accordance with NAVSEA drawings, WPSs, PQRs, and job specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, technical manuals, and work instructions.
Set up and adjust welding machines, wire feeders, gas flow, and heat settings per approved procedures.
Perform structural and pipe welding in multiple positions horizontal, overhead, vertical, etc.) as required.
Follow all NAVSEA QA, workmanship, and inspection requirements, including pre-weld preparation and post-weld cleaning.
Work with inspectors (NDT, Level II/III, QAI) during visual, radiographic, bend, or macro inspections.
Maintain assigned NAVSEA welder qualifications and requalify when required.
Required Qualifications:
Current NAVSEA FCAW Welder Qualification or ability to pass NAVSEA FCAW welder testing.
Experience welding in a shipyard, naval, or heavy industrial environment.
Ability to read and follow NAVSEA WPSs and technical drawings.
Strong knowledge of weld preparation, joint fit-up, distortion control, and quality workmanship standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Multi-process qualifications (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW).
Experience working on U.S. Navy vessels or in NAVSEA-certified facilities.
Familiarity with NAVSEA documents

Pay:
NONLOCAL $26 HR AND $160 PER DIEM
LOCAL: $34 HR
Physical & Working Conditions:
Ability to weld in confined spaces, at heights, inside tanks, and aboard naval vessels.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, kneel, bend, and work in varying temperatures.
Must be willing to work overtime, weekends
