Marine First Class Pipefitter

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Marine First Class Pipefitter to support U.S. Navy vessel maintenance, overhaul, and repair operations in an active shipyard environment. This role requires strong blueprint reading skills, hands-on fabrication experience, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in confined shipboard spaces.

Key Responsibilities

*Repair, remove, fabricate, fit, and install marine piping systems on U.S. Navy vessels

*Interpret and work from ship piping drawings, schematics, and specifications

*Perform end prep, fit-up, and installation of piping systems in accordance with Navy standards

*Work with carbon steel, copper nickel, CRES, and other marine piping materials

*Install pipe hangers, backing rings, welded sockets, and brazed joints

*Cut, bevel, clean, and prep pipe using hand tools, grinders, and shop equipment

*Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to meet production schedules

*Maintain compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental requirements

Required Qualifications

*5+ years of experience as a Marine Pipefitter (First Class preferred)

*Proven experience working in a shipyard or marine repair environment

*Ability to read and interpret ship piping drawings and blueprints

*Experience fitting carbon steel, CRES, and copper nickel piping

*Proficient in pipe end prep (manual and machine methods)

*Strong understanding of shipboard safety and quality standards

*Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and perform physical labor

Preferred Qualifications

*Prior experience working on U.S. Navy vessels

*Experience with Wach or Portsmouth pipe machines

*Familiarity with firemain, CHT, fuel oil, and auxiliary piping systems

*OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (marine or shipyard preferred)

*Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

*Respirator fit-testing required
