Job Opportunity: First Class Welder $45.00, $140.00 Per diem
Are you an expert welder with a background in high-stakes naval environments? We are looking for First Class Welders to join our operations at Newport News, VA. This role requires mastery of multiple welding processes and the ability to pass rigorous, non-trained qualification tests upon arrival.

Role Overview
As a First Class Welder, you will execute multi-pass, all-position fillet and butt welds on critical naval structures. You will work in a high-intensity environment, including shipboard areas, sub-assemblies, and staging, requiring peak physical stamina and technical precision.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Welding Excellence: Perform all-position (Horizontal, Vertical, Overhead) welding using SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GMAW-P (Pulse Arc) processes.
2. Structural Preparation: Utilize oxygen/propane heating torches and perform Air Carbon Arc Gouging.
3. Quality Control: Accurately use fillet and butt weld gauges to ensure all work meets naval specifications.
4. Safety & Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to OSHA regulations and NNS safety protocols while working in confined spaces or at heights.

Required Qualifications
1. Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of experience at Newport News Shipbuilding or a naval shipyard as a First Class Welder.
2. Technical Proficiency: Mastery of SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and Pulse Arc welding is mandatory.
3. Physical Requirements: Must be comfortable working in physically demanding conditions, including ladders, staging, and extreme temperature/humidity environments.
Mandatory Testing
All candidates must pass the following tests without training prior to their first day of work (Tests conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-248D):
1. SMAW: All positions (2G, 3G, 4G) 6 hours
2. FCAW: All positions (2G, 3G, 4G) 12 hours
3. GMAW: Horizontal (2G) 4 hours
4. GMAW-P (Pulse Arc): All positions (2G, 3G, 4G) Strict Requirement
5. Air Carbon Arc Gouging: Proficiency test 1 hour
6. Visual Inspection: Level I 4 hours
7. Welders Vision Test: 5 minutes
