Job Opportunity: First Class Machinist (Commercial/Naval) $27.50 plus $140.00 Per diem
We are looking for elite First Class Machinists to join our team at Newport News ,VA. This role is critical to the maintenance and assembly of complex propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, and specialized naval equipment. If you have a deep mastery of shipboard mechanical systems and precision machining, we want to hear from you.

Role Overview
As a First Class Machinist, you will perform high-level installation, overhaul, and testing of vital ship components. Your work will span everything from steam plant systems and main engines to aircraft elevators and weapons systems, requiring a "first-time-right" approach to precision and cleanliness.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Machinery Installation: Install main engines, propulsion plant equipment, aircraft elevators, anchor windlasses, and arresting gear.
2. System Overhaul: Expertly overhaul valves (steam and WOG), pumps, generators, and steam turbines. Perform valve and pump packing.
3. Precision Machining: Operate lathes, boring bars, and portable milling/drilling machines. Perform drilling and tapping with high accuracy.
4. Alignment & Fitting: Execute optical alignments, fit and blue-check liners, and manage liner sizes/soft foot.
5. Testing & Maintenance: Conduct hydrostatic testing, lube oil flushing, distilling plant tests, and system grooming.
6. Technical Compliance: Interpret complex blueprints, diagrams, and sketches. Maintain strict system cleanliness grades and steam plant cleanliness standards.

Required Qualifications & Skills
1. Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of commercial or naval experience as a First Class Machinist.
2. Precision Tooling: Mastery of precision instruments (Micrometers, Rulers) and blue-checking tools.
3. System Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of basic ship systems, nomenclature, and fastener types.
4. Physical Stamina: Ability to work in a demanding environment with ambient temperature and humidity extremes.
5. DOD Requirements: Must meet all Department of Defense requirements for access and performance.
