Job Opportunity: Firewatch (Submarine Construction)
Are you ready to play a critical role in national defense? We are seeking vigilant, safety-minded individuals to join our team for a long-term project supporting the construction of U.S. Navy submarines.
As a Firewatch, you are the first line of defense against shipboard hazards. You’ll be working in a fast-paced, industrial maritime environment where your attention to detail ensures the safety of the vessel and the crew.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Rate: $23.00/hour
Per Diem: $210.00 per day (for eligible candidates)
Project Duration: Long-term / Multi-year contract
Key Responsibilities
Safety Monitoring: Maintain a constant watch for fire, smoke, or sparks during "hot work" (welding, grinding, burning) in submarine compartments.
Equipment Management: Ensure fire extinguishers are charged, accessible, and in good working order.
Communication: Coordinate closely with welders and pipefitters to stop work immediately if a hazard is detected.
Post-Work Inspection: Remain on-site for the required "cool down" period after hot work is completed to ensure no dormant embers remain.
Requirements
Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a NAVSEA Yellow Badge (Requires U.S. Citizenship and a clean background check).
Experience: Previous experience in a shipyard, maritime, or heavy industrial setting is preferred but not required.
Physical Demands: Ability to navigate tight spaces (tanks, voids, and small compartments) and climb vertical ladders.
Alertness: Must be able to remain standing and focused for long durations.
