360X Staffing is hiring for Shipfitters in Jacksonville, FL.
Pay: $28-30/hr + $130 daily per diem for days worked
1st and 2nd shifts available!
Job Description
The Ship Fitter is responsible for performing structural fitting, fabrication, and installation work aboard U.S. Naval ships undergoing maintenance and repair. This position requires strong knowledge of shipboard structural systems, the ability to work safely in an active shipyard environment, and the capability to read, interpret, and execute work from blueprints and naval technical drawings.
Responsibilities:
Perform shipfitting tasks including cutting, fitting, grinding, layout, forming, and installation of structural components on naval vessels.
Lay out, fabricate, align, and assemble metal structure components such as bulkheads, foundations, frames, decks, and hull sections.
Interpret blueprints, sketches, job specifications, and NAVSEA/NAVOSH standards.
Utilize hand tools and shop equipment such as grinders, torches, saws, and pneumatic tools.
Conduct burning and cutting operations using oxy-acetylene or oxy-fuel torches as required.
Fit, align, and tack weld components to support certified welders.
Measure, mark, and prepare materials using tapes, squares, levels, and other layout tools.
Work safely in confined spaces, aboard ships, and at elevated heights when needed.
Collaborate with supervisors, welders, pipefitters, and other trades to support ship repair schedules.
Follow all shipyard safety procedures, including hot-work rules, fire-watch coordination, and environmental controls.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and accurately report job status to supervisors.
Qualifications:
Must be eligible for DBIDS access (background screening required).
Minimum 3 years of shipfitter or structural fitter experience in ship repair, maritime construction, or naval vessel maintenance.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and structural drawings.
Skilled in layout, measurement, cutting, and fitting of steel components.
Must be comfortable working in confined spaces, overhead, and in industrial environments.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical labor in a shipboard setting.
Knowledge of NAVSEA standards and military ship structural components preferred.
Working Days: Monday - Saturday
Hours: 50+/week
