Senior Maritime Electrical Manager
Position Summary
The Senior Maritime Electrical Manager leads the electrical engineering team in the design, integration, and delivery of shipboard electrical systems. This role oversees all aspects of electrical design, ensures compliance with regulatory standards, and collaborates closely with production, project management, and other engineering disciplines. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and thrives in a fast-paced shipyard or marine production environment.
Responsibilities:
Electrical System Design & Oversight:
-Lead the development of electrical system designs, schematics, and layouts for new vessel construction and refit projects
-Review and approve electrical drawings and technical documentation for accuracy and compliance
Team Leadership & Coordination:
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers and designers
- Assign tasks, establish priorities, and ensure timely completion of deliverables
Project Management & Collaboration:
- Coordinate with naval architects, mechanical engineers, and production teams to integrate electrical systems across all vessel components
- Support project planning, scheduling, and progress tracking
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all electrical designs meet applicable standards, including ABS and USCG requirements
- Oversee quality control processes and resolve technical issues during construction and commissioning
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5-7 years of experience in maritime or shipyard electrical engineering
- Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or lead role
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical; experience with ShipConstructor or similar software preferred
- Strong knowledge of shipboard systems including power distribution, lighting, automation, and communications
- Ability to interpret and apply regulatory standards (ABS, US Coast Guard, etc.)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with PLC programming and power management systems
- Familiarity with advanced system integration technologies
- Understanding of shipyard production workflows and safety procedures
- Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain accurate documentation
