We are seeking an experienced Ship Superintendent to oversee all shipyard activities related to vessel construction and commissioning. This role is the primary on-site authority from project award through final delivery, coordinating labor, subcontractors, vendors, classification societies, and owners' representatives to ensure quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met.

What you'll do:
- Lead all shipyard activities including new construction, outfitting, installation, and commissioning of vessels.
- Plan and coordinate daily operations to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contractual requirements, drawings, and specifications.
- Serve as the primary scheduling contact for QC surveyors and classification societies during construction, trials, and commissioning phases.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, USCG, ABS, and all applicable safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Manage daily workforce planning and coordinating in-house trades, subcontractors, and vendors against project schedules and manpower requirements.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule and cost controls.
- Review work scopes, change orders, and technical documentation for accuracy and alignment with project goals.
- Lead commissioning activities: dock trials, sea trials, system testing, final acceptance, tracking, and resolving all deficiencies.
- Coordinate with engineering, purchasing, and project management teams to resolve technical issues and ensure material availability.
- Maintain accurate project records, reports, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and develop junior superintendents, foremen, and supervisors as required.
Required qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive experience overseeing shipyard operations, including new construction, repair, and commissioning.
- Demonstrated experience managing all phases of vessel construction through final delivery.
- Strong knowledge of marine systems, shipyard trades, and construction sequencing.
- Thorough understanding of USCG, ABS, and SOLAS regulatory and classification requirements.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic shipyard environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with project reporting, scheduling, and standard computer applications.
