Inside Machinist (Large Equipment Operator) – Newport News, VA

Pay: $37.50/Hour
Per Diem: $120.00/Day
Location: Newport News, VA
Duration: 2 Years

Background check and hair follicle drug test required
U.S. Citizenship required

Job Description:

Operation of manual and/or NC machines such as lathes, mills, horizontal and vertical machining centers, EDMs, and other equipment to fabricate parts utilized for ship and submarine building.

Experience:

Minimum of 6 years of Inside Machine Shop experience.

Must have experience with:

1. Horizontal Boring Mills (HBMs) – Machines with travel ranges of approximately X 500", Y 250", Z 50", and W 65", including turntables approximately 10 feet square with a load capacity of 100 tons.
2. Vertical Turning Centers (VTCs) – Tables approximately 80" in diameter with a 20-ton table capacity, X total travel of approximately 160", and Z travel of approximately 80".

Required Skills:

• Familiar with Numerical Controlled Processes, Manual Data Input, Tooling Offsets, and Conversation Controllers.
• Experience with controllers such as Fanuc, Siemens, Acramatic, Cincinnati-Milacron, etc.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments, including outside/inside micrometers, depth mics, and verniers.
• Familiar with threading and various measuring/gauging requirements.
• Drilling and tapping processes.
• Familiar with carbide machining processes.
• Ability to comprehend complex mechanical drawings and blueprints.
• Machinist or Tool & Die Apprenticeship.
