PMQS is looking for experienced Structural Welders (Pulse Arc) for a long-term opportunity at the Newport News Shipyard in Virginia!

Pay: $38/hour starting rate
Pay Increase: $45/hour once you successfully pass the Pulse Arc test
Per Diem: $120/day

Experience Required:

Must have 4 years of NNS or Naval Shipyard experience as a First Class Welder.

Required Skills:

1. Multi-pass, all-position fillet and butt welds using:
   • SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding)
   • GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding)
   • FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding)
   • GMAW-P (Pulse Arc Welding)
2. Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch
3. Experience working in physically demanding shipboard environments, including ladders, staging, and sub-assemblies
4. Familiarity with OSHA regulations related to the shipbuilding industry
5. Air Carbon Arc Gouging
6. Ability to properly use fillet and butt weld gauges

Welding Qualifications:

All Welders must pass the required multi-pass butt weld qualification tests without training before beginning productive work at Newport News.

Testing includes:

• SMAW – 2G, 3G & 4G
• FCAW – 2G, 3G & 4G
• GMAW – 2G
• GMAW-P/Pulse Arc – 2G, 3G & 4G
• Air Carbon Arc Gouging Proficiency Test
• Visual Inspection of Welds Level I
• Welder Vision Test

Additional Requirements:

Hair Follicle Drug Test – goes back 90 days
Employment Verification/Background Check Required
