PMQS – Project Quality Management Quality Services is hiring experienced Structural Welders (Pulse Arc) for a long-term opportunity at the shipyard in Newport News, Virginia.

Pay Rate: $38–$45/hour
Per Diem: $120/day for qualified non-local candidates
Location: Newport News, VA – Shipyard
Contract: 2 Years
Hair Follicle Drug Test: Required – 90-day lookback
Background & Employment Verification: Required

Required Experience

• Minimum 4 years of NNS or naval shipyard experience as a First Class Welder
• Must be experienced working in physically demanding shipyard environments, including shipboard areas, sub-assemblies, ladders, and staging
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations related to the shipbuilding industry

Required Welding Skills

• Multi-pass, all-position fillet and butt welding
• SMAW – Shielded Metal Arc Welding
• GMAW – Gas Metal Arc Welding
• FCAW – Flux Cored Arc Welding
• GMAW-P – Pulse Arc Welding
• Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch
• Air Carbon Arc Gouging
• Proper use of fillet and butt weld gauges

Welding Qualification Requirements

All Structural Welders must successfully pass the required qualification testing prior to beginning productive work.

Testing includes:

• SMAW – 2G, 3G & 4G
• FCAW – 2G, 3G & 4G
• GMAW – 2G
• GMAW-P / Pulse Arc – 2G, 3G & 4G
• Air Carbon Arc Gouging Proficiency Test
• Visual Inspection of Welds Level I
• Welder Vision Test

Candidates must successfully pass the required Newport News Welding School testing without training before performing work.
