PMQS IS HIRING – ADVANCED SHIPFITTERS

Newport News, VA
Local Pay: $45.00/Hour
Duration: 2 Years

EXPERIENCE
4 years of building and construction experience.
Steel fabrication experience preferred.
Experience must be documented on the Advanced Shipfitter Summary Sheet.

REQUIRED SKILLS
Single-Pass Tack Welding required.
Multi-Pass Tack Welding preferred.
Oxygen/Propane Burning & Heating Torch experience.
Ability to read complex structural drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and sketches.
Structural layout, fabrication, fitting, and assembly.
Air Carbon Arc Gouging.
Experience with grinders and needle guns.
Ability to work from Work Packages and Drawings.
Experience with shell plates, decks, bulkheads, longitudinals, hull inserts, penetrations, and foundations.

WELD QUALIFICATION
Candidates will take a hands-on Tack Welding Qualification at Newport News.
SMAW process.
Vertical Up (3F) and Overhead (4F).
Candidates who do not pass the Multi-Pass test may be given the opportunity to take the Single-Pass test.
Candidates who pass the Single-Pass test may remain an Advanced Shipfitter.
Candidates must be prepared to test without training.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to meet required safety, PPE, respirator, fall-protection, and medical-clearance requirements.
