Project Management Quality Services (PMQS) is actively hiring experienced First Class Pipefitters (X42) for an opportunity at the Newport News shipyard in Virginia!

POSITION DETAILS

Position: First Class Pipefitter – X42
Location: Newport News, VA – Shipyard
Pay Rate: $35/hour
Per Diem: $120/day for qualified non-local candidates

IMPORTANT: MINIMUM 3 YEARS OF PIPEFITTING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!

Candidates MUST have at least 3 years of experience as a First Class Pipefitter in one or more of the following industries:

Marine / Shipbuilding

Commercial Nuclear

Petrochemical / Chemical Plants

REQUIRED PIPEFITTING EXPERIENCE

Blueprint Reading – Ability to read and interpret ship piping drawings and technical specifications.

Pipe Fitting – Experience fitting carbon steel, CRES (stainless steel), and copper-nickel piping.

Pipe End Preparation – Ability to prepare pipe ends manually or using Wach or Portsmouth machines.

Pipe Hanger Installation – Knowledge of installing and positioning pipe hangers.

Precision Measurements – Ability to read a ruler using inches and tenths.

Backing Rings – Experience preparing and fitting backing rings.

Pipe Cutting & Grinding – Ability to clean-cut and break pipe using a grinder.

V-Bevel Preparation – Experience manually preparing V-bevels for welding.

Pipe Fabrication – Ability to fabricate pipe details and assemblies from drawings.

Pipe Bending – Experience bending pipe using templates and hand benders.

Welded Socket Fitting – Ability to properly fit welded sockets.

Brazed Joint Fitting – Experience fitting brazed joints with or without insert rings.

IDEAL CANDIDATES

We are looking for experienced Pipefitters who can:

Work independently from piping drawings and blueprints.

Perform accurate pipe layout, preparation, fitting, and fabrication.

Work with carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper-nickel piping systems.

Use pipe preparation equipment, grinders, and hand tools.

Maintain high standards of quality and workmanship.

Work in physically demanding shipyard and industrial environments.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must pass a Background Check (BGC).

Must pass a Hair Follicle Drug Test (HFT).

Minimum 3 years of First Class Pipefitter experience in marine, commercial nuclear, or petrochemical environments.

$35/HR + $120/DAY PER DIEM FOR QUALIFIED NON-LOCAL CANDIDATES!
