NOW HIRING! PMQS IS LOOKING FOR DECK ELECTRICIANS IN NEWPORT NEWS, VA – $20.66–$27.31/HR + $120/DAY PER DIEM!

Project Management Quality Services (PMQS) is actively hiring experienced Deck Electricians ( for a long-term opportunity at the Newport News shipyard in Virginia!

POSITION DETAILS

Position: Deck Electrician 
Location: Newport News, VA – Shipyard
Pay Rate: $20.66–$27.31/hour
Per Diem: $120/day for qualified non-local candidates
Contract Duration: 2 Years
Shift: Flexibility required

Candidates MUST have at least 3 years of electrical experience in one or more of the following industries:

Marine / Shipbuilding

Industrial Electrical

Commercial Nuclear

REQUIRED ELECTRICAL EXPERIENCE

Blueprint & Schematic Reading – Ability to read and interpret shipboard electrical installation drawings, wiring tables, schematics, and work packages.

Electrical Equipment Installation – Experience laying out, mounting, and installing electrical equipment aboard ships.

Cable Installation – Experience routing, pulling, and installing electrical cables.

Cable Terminations – Ability to perform cable terminations, cut-ins, and electrical hook-ups.

Wireway Installation – Experience installing wireway racks and electrical cable supports.

Cable Penetrations – Ability to install cable penetrations through equipment, bulkheads, and decks.

Electrical Testing – Proficiency using volt-ohm meters, clamp-on ammeters, insulation resistance testers (Meggers), and other electrical test instruments.

Electrical Hand Tools – Experience using pliers, wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, connector crimping tools, and other electrical installation tools.

Shipboard Electrical Systems – Experience with lighting, power distribution, communication, navigation, or other industrial electrical systems.

Ability to work independently with proper instructions and follow technical specifications.

ADDITIONAL RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Candidates with experience in the following areas are encouraged to apply:

Electrical equipment installation, repair, and overhaul.

Lighting systems and receptacle hook-ups.

Electrical wireway racks and cable management.

Electronic controls and electrical equipment maintenance.

Preventive maintenance and operational testing.

Stud shooting for mounting electrical equipment.
