Planet Forward is seeking an experienced Transmission Line Engineer to support a 12+ month contract assignment in Lake Mary, FL.

Seeking candidates who live in the Lake Mary, FL Area. Per Diem and relocation are not being offered for this assignment.

This position is responsible for analyzing, developing, designing, and supporting implementation of the Transmission Line Engineering Departments construction projects. Design projects range from pole relocations, line rebuilds to the complete design of new transmission line. Coordinates work to manage multiple projects simultaneously to ensure timely release of engineering designs. Utilizes a variety of tools and techniques in order to complete an engineering design, including current design specifications, pertinent code manuals, computer aided design/drafting software (PLS-CADD), and other reference sources. Final product is an engineering release package consisting of pertinent drawings and bills of material.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Performs engineering designs on projects ranging from pole relocation, line rebuilds to the complete design of new transmission lines.Analyzes routine engineering scenarios and perform necessary design calculations to comply with applicable codes and sound engineering practices. Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity.Develops layout drawings, detail drawings, and written construction specifications.Contributes to team decision-making in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities; deals with changing priorities and differing situations and makes decision that may affect the work of the team. Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches related to well-defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity. Conducts engineering and related studies; completes routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with increasing ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces; increasingly competent to design, operate and maintain systems with moderate impact on existing systems. Possesses and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies necessary to handle assignments of increasing complexity. Assists construction in troubleshooting and problem resolution and provides on-site support. Modifies designs to address construction problems, environmental circumstances and public concerns.Directs the work of CAD operators to develop construction drawings, for transmission lines and to ensure timely completion of field revisions/as-builts and return completed drawings to the electronic drawing management systems. Prepares, updates and revises design standard construction drawings and one-line/three line schematic diagrams. Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files. Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities; decisions may affect the operations or results of the work group and may have some impact on major projects or department results.

Required Qualifications:

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or state registration as a Professional Engineer. A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree. Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer. Experience must have been attained at a "Fully Meets" performance level.Registration as a Professional Engineer

Job-specific knowledge, skills or abilities:

Demonstrated advancing application of engineering theories and principles. Increasingly proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, preparing and presenting recommendations. Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Good written and oral communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Additional but not essential education or experience. Proficient in principles of project management.Experience in the utility industry.
