NES Global Talent is looking for an experienced Transmission Engineer II to work for one of the leading Power and Energy companies in Virginia. Qualified candidate must have a general understanding of Electrical Transmission and Computer Systems and be able to build systems from the ground up. Works closely with the Power Generation Engineering and Operations staff to ensure software system is configured electrically to the design specifications required to operate the electrical system.

Write any application using the vendors API to requested business requirements.

Utilize Vendor design tools to build necessary user interface screens, configuration of generation parameters in control system, alarms and alarm management, historical trends, reports from various sources.

Build reports in a historian that supply business with situational awareness, financial analysis, various reports that have business benefits. Will develop tools, processes, and procedures for a user training system.

Provides engineering support in designated company area, or specific engineering discipline.

Performs and/or reviews engineering calculations, analysis, research and design.

Provides cost analysis as needed and develops recommendation based on calculations (e.g. cost for equipment upgrade) for management review.


Bachelors in Engineering

Understands and can apply knowledge of configuration management.

Ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.).

Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices.

Understanding of generation units and the various parameters of the generation environment

Understanding of the electrical transmission system

Computer systems and how to build systems from the ground up.

Security and compliance requirements for NERC and SOX.
